Today was a bit of a hungry day. I was too busy working, playing and dealing with broken systems to worry about food. However, it still contained a decent amount of good meat, nuts and veggies. I started the day out with some apple cider vinegar and then some eggs and bacon for breakfast. Then dinner was around a 350gm pork cutlet and veggies. I trained lightly during the day in the middle of work and so snacked on a couple of Blue Dinosaur Paleo Bars. Those things are yummy but have around 2 tsp of sugar in them. Wasn't the best scenario but for a quick meal, it worked. p.s. I could lift 70kg Overhead today. I guess those broken ribs are getting better! Now you guys must have read Loren Cordain's super strict paleo guide that I posted yesterday and yes, it is a bit extreme and silly. But you can't go paleo without looking at the first document that started it all. Yes 6 eggs a week (caged), diet soda and lean meats were in there, but this was written to be different in an era when even this was considered blasphemy. Today we have better sources and materials, so as an update to the original, here is Mark Sisson's Primal Blue Print Shopping List. It is better, more inclusive and not as silly sounding as Cordain's work. Now, he doesn't talk portion sizes, but obviously common sense is advised when reading into the words 'preferred' and 'moderation' The trend towards health and fitness has gone mainstream...and it’s time to take it off the beaten path. Millions sweat away the calories on the trails or in the health clubs, and scrutinise labels and menus in an attempt to control weight, delay ageing and feel healthy, fit and energetic. All these well-intentioned efforts are simply not working. Rates of obesity, diabetes, arthritis, heart disease and cancer continue to climb, and even the most committed fitness enthusiasts often carry 10 or 20 extra pounds of body fat. MarksDailyApple.com healthy lifestyle guru Mark Sisson presents the compelling premise that you can reprogram your genes in the direction of weight loss, health and longevity by following 10 immutable “Primal” laws validated by two million years of human evolution. The Primal Blueprint isn’t a fad diet or exercise program, but a sustainable set of nutrition, fitness and lifestyle behaviours that align you with your genes’ expectations so that you can enjoy superior health and wellness without any of the conventional struggle or sacrifice. - Mark Sisson
