what sets us apart from Other GYMS?

We follow a movement philosophy
We are a school of movement, which means our classes look a lot different than aerobics, body-pump, bootcamp or any other group exercise class. We look to empower our clients with the knowledge they need to reach the peak of their health and maintain it for years to come.

Foundation Sessions
All beginners start by completing 3 foundation (small personal training) sessions so that they become familiar with movements used in our strength and conditioning method such as Olympic weightlifting, locomotion methods, hand-balancing, gymnastics and rowing. You will also learn about mobility, injury prevention and nutrition.

The purpose of doing foundation sessions prior to starting group classes is three-fold:

First, our method is incredibly technical – it’s like learning an entirely new skill. So in the same way you wouldn’t throw someone off the street onto the Senior Rugby team, we don’t throw people who have never done clean and jerks, snatches and pull ups right into the fire of group classes. Instead, we take the time to properly teach you the movements so you’re confident and safe in your abilities by the time you begin group classes.

Second, one-on-one personal training allows us to address your individual needs. Everybody needs to work at a different pace, and we want to keep you injury-free to increase your longevity.

Third, we believe that the relationships you build with the people around you are going to enrich your life, and your relationship with your coach is no different. We want to get to know you, your fitness goals, your life goals, what’s going on in your life at the moment, and what you need from us to help you succeed.

Make movement a priority

The body contributes far more to our lives than just physical attributes - it plays a major role in emotions, learning and relationships. The body is intimately involved in all our thought processes, understanding, emotions and decision making. The mind and body are inseparable - the body is your brain! Consequently, all learning, no matter how abstract, is physical.

I am passionate about and coach movement. If you train, then train movement, not muscles. Movement is ancient. Movement was here first. Hunting and gathering, dancing round the fire, walking, climbing, running, jumping, crawling, lifting, swimming, fighting...even sex! These are all movements the human body is designed for.

It is my job to give you the movement material you love. Once you've found it, turn it into your passion and your obsession. Become strong and become useful with my coaching as you begin to understand that exercise is optional but movement is essential.
